GEAUX BEARED

How Geaux Bearded began...

Let it be known to all those of the bearded brotherhood, the call of the mountains sparked both my beard and this company. And yet, I’m still a Louisiana boy--

Geaux Tigers!

All I could do is GEAUX BEARDED.

Back in 2019, my wife, Sarah, and I (Tommy) took a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado. Oh boy…did this ever change things. For the first time ever, I experienced a new and life-changing experience in the mountains. The mountains changed me…

In the words of John Denver,

He was born in the summer of his 46th year…

Coming home to a place he’d never been before…

He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again…

You might say he found a key for every door…

after this...

the mountains were ever on my mind. We went once a year to Colorado, sometimes twice....

In 2022, while planning another Colorado trek, my good friend, Nate, mentioned growing out his beard for our trip 4 months later. Our whole squad accepted the challenge.

We all grew out our beards.

Four months later, we climbed four 14ers (14,000-foot mountains) in Colorado, with BIG MOUNTAIN BEARDS! It was fun, but it wasn’t that easy. I needed to look professional for my job, and, to be honest, I’m a little OCD. During the four months leading up to the trip, I began researching beards and beard care. I got over insecurities, found great products, and a brotherhood I didn’t know existed.

I felt this pull, this urge, to call more men to experience adventure, challenges, and community.

Geaux Bearded was born!

Who am I?

Thomas (“Tommy”) Kissinger (owner of Geaux Bearded) was not always a bearded, purple-and-gold-bleeding, Baton Rouge, Louisiana boy.

Born in 1973, he grew up in Northern Virginia in a small city named Dale City, Virginia. While attending Gar-Field High School he excelled as a musician and fell in love with the sound of the trumpet. In 1991 he was granted a full scholarship as a trumpet performance major to attend Louisiana State University (LSU) from 1991-1994. During that time he marched in The Golden Band From Tigerland and played in the LSU Jazz Ensemble. In 1994 he left LSU to pursue other interests.

In 1995, Thomas married the love of his life, Sarah. After a 20-year journey in construction, started his own company—Tommy’s Windows, Doors & Siding. Along the way, they had three children: Moriah, Makayla and Micah.

What is Geaux Bearded?

You’re ready for adventure, for a challenge, but too often you feel stuck—trapped in your 9 to 5. Life is demanding, constraining, keeping you and your beard from being free.

It’s time to GEAUX!

I know, I know... you need to be presentable. You’ve got a job, a family, and you care about your appearance, but you’re tired of insecurities holding you back. The fact is, so many don’t know how to get to that next level, so they settle, plateau, and never let their beard grow.

But what if you had quality products, and helpful tips from bearded brothers, to help you grow—and grow your beard?

Let’s Geaux Bearded together. Other people’s expectations and my own OCD used to hold me back. But thanks to good brothers, a beard challenge, and the majestic Colorado mountains I feel like a new man. A free man.

I’m growing and going on to bigger and better changes.
