No Shave November & Movember: Grow for Your Bros

FELLAS! Listen up! November is nigh, which means it's time to let that facial hair grow free. That's right, grab life by the beard, it's the most wonderful time of the year. No Shave November and Movember are here!

If you're not familiar with these furry festivities, let me break it down for you.

November is a time to grow.

Grow camaraderie.

Grow your facial.

Grow awareness.

It’s what Geaux Bearded is all about.

What’s the difference?

No Shave November is pretty straightforward - for the entire month, you simply stop shaving and let your facial hair grow wild and free. Starting in 2007 by the children of a cancer casualty, this movement encourages men to ditch the razor and donate the money they save (on haircuts, razors, etc.) to cancer charities. Celebrate hair growth and remember the hair loss that cancer patients suffer.

Meanwhile, Mo-vember is the largest men’s health charity, challenging men to grow out a mustache specifically to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues, like prostate cancer, suicide prevention, and mental health. It was started by friends in Australia in 2003, looking to have fun and increase awareness for men’s cancers. Just as many wear pink ribbons in October, we challenge you to grow a mostache in November.

Why should I grow?

So why should you quit cutting and participate in these trends? Well my furry-faced friends, there are actually some pretty great reasons.

First of all, it's fun! Grow out your facial hair to mix up your look and try on a whole new style. Whether you go for a full lumberjack beard, a debonair mustache, or just a rugged 5 o'clock shadow, it's a nice change of pace from normal. And let's be honest, we all want to grow.

Plus, No Shave November and Movember are great opportunities to bond with the other men in your life. When you all participate together, it creates camaraderie and shared experience. You can compare your progress, share grooming tips, and give each other a hard time about your patchy attempts at facial hair. The beard challenge was the catalyst for Geaux Bearded.

In addition, it's a built-in conversation starter. For one, it can help you connect with the other dudes in your life. Many men lack community and bro-time is essential for manly mental health.

Secondly, if you switch up your look, people who see you regularly will ask questions. These questions open the door to spreading awareness and prompting others to support men’s health.

This is the real reason you should get involved…

No Shave November and Movember are important awareness and fundraising campaigns for men's health.

Movember? It's all about using your manly mustache to spark discussions about men's health issues that often get overlooked, like prostate cancer and mental health. The goal is to get men talking more openly about these topics and encouraging each other to be proactive about their well-being. This is about your health and inspiring other men – to be men. By growing out a bold, attention-grabbing 'stache, you're using your face as a platform to spread awareness and raise money for vital research.

They even encourage participants to host a Mo-ment. Host an event, raise awareness, and raise funds (and, of course, mustaches)

For No Shave November, the goal is to embrace your natural hair growth and use the money you would normally spend on shaving and grooming to support cancer prevention and research. The unkempt look is meant to spark conversations about cancer and donating to relevant charities. It's a simple, symbolic way to show support and raise funds for an important cause.

Now, I know what you're thinking… "But I can't grow a beard. If I let it grow for a month, it gets itchy.” THAT’S EASY. If you struggle to get beyond that awkward, itchy phase, GEAUX BEARDED is here for you bro. Quality beard care products, like our beard oils, will keep your skin from drying out.  You can get a free sample, or cover the month (and more) with a bottle of Acadian Ascent. By the way, be on the lookout for our No Shave November deal to help you participate

Even if your facial hair game is a little weak, you can still get in on the action. Remember, it's not about having the most epic beard or the most manicured mustache. It's about coming together as a community of men to show our support and start important conversations about men's health.

So this November, get off that plateau. I challenge you to put that razor down, embrace the scruff, and get involved in No Shave November OR Movember. Trust me, it'll be a fun, meaningful experience that's good for your health, your relationships, and your overall well-being. Who knows, you may even surprise yourself and end up with something impressive, looking extra manly for the holidays. Who knows… you and your friends may even accept the Yeard Challenge (check out this post).

Get hairy for a good cause, guys. Grow for your bros. GEAUX BEARDED!
